Lincoln went above and beyond to give the redesigned 2017 MKZ an exceptional level of grace and elegance. An equal amount of effort has been applied to develop and harness the capabilities of an available 3.0L EcoBoost engine. This engine, expected to deliver 400hp and 400 lb.-ft of torque, makes the 2017 MKZ one of the most powerful and compelling Lincoln vehicles to ever grace the streets. Standard is a 2.0L EcoBoost engine that makes 240hp. A unique grille, 19in. wheels and painted brake calipers round out the exterior appearance, while the interior exudes comfort and luxury. The Dynamic Torque Vectoring, part of the available Driver’s Package, transfers power on demand to the appropriate rear wheel while driving through corners. This system enhances cornering agility without compromising comfort, which results in a smooth drive. Road conditions can change in an instant, which is why Lincoln Drive Control was created. This suite of drive-enhancing technologies including electric power-assisted steering and active noise control helps to deliver better control while offering a tailored driving experience. SYNC3 is capable of understanding voice commands to control features such as music and navigation. The available Reve lAudio systems come in a 14 or 20 speaker configuration. Adaptive cruise control with Stop and Go capability make highway driving more relaxed. Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection uses radar and camera technology to warn and even prevent frontal collisions. The shared features between the MKZ Hybrid and its gas counterpart go well beyond the exterior. Designers and engineers worked hand in hand to deliver a hybrid powertrain- while keeping almost every surface, button, knob and interior finish exactly the same.
The Lincoln MKZ is available with one of several different engines. At the bottom of the range is a choice of two different 4-cylinder engines. The first comes as part of a hybrid drivetrain, utilizing that 2.0L engine in conjunction with an electric motor, the MKZ hybrid is rated at an astounding 41 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway. The other 4-cylinder option is a 2.0L Turbocharged unit. Making 245 hp, it should ensure that the MKZ has pretty zippy acceleration. Interestingly, both models are priced identically at the bottom of the range, so buyers have a choice between power and fuel economy right from the get-go.
The optional engine is a brand new 3.0L turbocharged V6 with direct injection. In its basic guise it makes 350 hp, enough to make the MKZ quite rapid. But if a buyer should opt for all-wheel drive in conjunction with the V6, they will be treated to an extra 50 hp, bringing the grand total up to an even 400 hp, enough power to really surprise anyone riding in the mid-sized luxury car.
Basic, standard equipment on the Lincoln MKZ with the 2.0L turbo is quite substantial and includes 10-way heated front seats with a memory function for the driver's side, A 10.2" LCD gauge cluster, Ford's SYNC 3 infotainment system, SiriusXM Satellite radio, 2 USB ports and an audio jack, dual-zone temperature control, a remote starter, 18" machined aluminum wheels, paddle shifters behind the steering wheel, and a rear view camera.
Models sold with the 3.0L Turbocharged V6 also get wood paneling on the interior, additional ambient lighting, a power telescoping steering wheel and auto-folding side view mirrors.
There are several options available of course. A technology package features adaptive cruise control, pre-collision and pedestrian detection systems, a self-parking feature and rain sensing wipers. A panoramic glass sunroof is available, created what Lincoln claim to be the largest sunroof opening amongst sedans currently sold. A luxury package meanwhile, adds a 20-speaker Revel Ultima sound system along with LED headlights, while the Select Plus Package adds a navigation system and a blind spot detection system.

The Lincoln MKZ gets a complete redesign for 2017. Gone is the unpopular and somewhat awkward corporate grill that Lincoln was trying out. It's been replaced with a much more conventional looking grill, to go along with sophisticated new styling on the rest of the vehicle. The interior has also been given a thorough refresh, with high quality materials abound. On the mechanical side of things, a brand new top of the line turbocharged engine is available, producing enough power to make the brand new MKZ a genuinely fast car.
The Lincoln MKZ is a mid-sized luxury car, essentially serving as the least expensive car in Lincoln's lineup. Starting at just above $35,000, the MKZ competes with other mid-sized luxury sedans such as the Lexus ES350 and the Acura TLX. With such a low base price, the MKZ is also knocking on the door of kitted up versions of more standard family sedans such as the Camry or the Accord, both of which can climb past $30,000 with enough options. The Lincoln MKZ is available with several different drivetrains, including all-wheel drive versions and a hybrid option. With plenty of technology and its high quality interior, the new MKZ makes a compelling argument for itself in the mid $30,000 luxury car market.
